Sea Glass. One on the most beautiful finishes you ever see on home accents. It looks sophisticated, yet soft. Pretty but not too twee. I just love it.
I hate buying new glass, since I have so much at home just waiting to be recycled. So the only answer was to come up with a method of recreating Sea Glass using paint. Easy Peasy once you know how!
You will need: Clean washed glass jars, bottles, vases - glass anything really!
Paint - I like Fusion Mineral paint as it is thick enough to create texture without clumping and has a wonderful matte finish. You can use Fusion's Ultra Grip first - apply using the same method I describe for the paint. This will give you a really secure base.
Being lazy I have not used Ultra Grip - but if you know your piece will get knocked about I highly recommend this magical product!
Once you have your items together it is simply a case of getting started. Watch me in action right here. Much more fun than trying to describe how to dab and mix!
It is that easy! Apply paint using your cloth, the arty part comes when you apply the white. Practice on some throw away jars, and then up your game. Go for it on something large!
Remember you can use all sorts of colours - pinks, reds, shades of white and grey, or blue and green. Yellow would look stunning!
Just look at these from West Elm. You can re-create these looks using wine bottles and pasta jars! Amazing!
I hope you enjoyed my little demonstration. Have fun and play with paint!
