Fiona Debell

 I’m Fiona. This is my work. There is a story, of course, but the short version is that my art begins with emotion.

I can only paint when my mind, hand, and heart are connected - when I’m fully present. Sometimes that means I don’t create at all. But when the feeling comes, it pours onto the canvas.

Each collection is a reflection of where I am in life, my innermost state of being. Reciprocity, (that’s the collection of minimalist abstract work you see here), was born from the collision of worlds in the wake of the pandemic - a dialogue between isolation, reconnection, and resilience. It was a natural progression from the work of my Ethereal collection - a soft, colour drenched series focussed on the chromatic collision of colour but acknowledging the importance of restraint - through the quiet weight of negative space. I’m currently working on a new evolution of my texture-filled Heartfelt series, set to debut in late 2025.

For me, painting is not just making art. It’s a way of being honest with myself — and hopefully, creating something that resonates with you too.
